# Internal Server error in WordPress Website (500)

**Situation**
  The client is seeing the 500 Internal Server Error.

**Reasons**
Generally, there are two reasons that cause this error :
1) The server’s PHP memory limit is exceeded.
2) A corrupted .htaccess file.

**Communication to Client**
Tell the client that this error is caused due to the above-mentioned reasons. In order to fix the issue, our development team has to create a new .htaccess file or have to exceed site’s PHP memory limit. Ts is all the backend work, therefore, requires the technical expertise and we will provide it for you.

**Prerequisite**
Client's Hosting URL.
Client's Hosting  Credentials (Username and Password)
Importantly: Verify the credentials then and there over the phone or via chat.
